Anderson, South Carolina - The Electric City
The city of Anderson is rich in history and provides many of the “big city” amenities closer to home. Founded in 1828, it’s the county seat and has a population of 26,686 as of 2010. It is the smallest of the three primary cities in the Upstate region. The town is named after Robert Anderson of the American Revolutionary War and local explorer. The nickname “The Electric City” came about as Anderson was one of the first cities in the southeast to have electricity in 1895.
Anderson is right off Interstate 85 providing convenient access to Greenville (20 miles) , Atlanta (120 miles), and Charlotte (140 miles). It is just one hour away from the Blue Ridge Mountains and four hours away from the South Carolina coast.

Parks & Recreation
Anderson Memorial Stadium - A ballfield/stadium on 12 acres of land on White Road. Renovated in 2007 with stadium-style seating. Home to the Anderson University Trojans.
Anderson Sports & Entertainment Center - A 300-acre area that includes the Anderson Civic Center, a 37,000 square feet facility, as well as one of South Carolina's largest amphitheaters that can accommodate 15,000 people, a huge castle-like play structure with play equipment, a 64-acre sports center with 7 baseball/softball fields, 3 soccer fields, disc golf course, and 8 tennis courts. There is also a lake with park, picnic shelters, and miles of nature trail. The ASEC is Anderson's largest recreational area.
